THE USE OF PICTURE MEDIA IN LEARNING TO IMPROVE STUDENT SPEAKING IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL SMPN 4 BANDA ACEH

This research aims to determine the speaking abilities of grade IX students at SMPN 4 Banda Acch. This research is quantitative research and uses an experimental approach. The subjects in this research were class IX students. The object of this research is the ability to speak English. The data collection methods used in this research are pre test, post test and documentation. This research uses experimental methods. The type of experimental method used is a pretest-posttest research plan. The population in this study were all students at SMPN 4 Banda Aceh and the sample in this study was class IX students, totaling 15 students. The results of the pre-test calculations show that the average value is 55,7 and the significant value is 0.8540 and from the post-test calculations the average vake is 74.5 and the significant value is 0.9333. So Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted or data is normally distributed. Based on the results of the research and discussion that have been carried out, it is conchaded that the activity of using image media has an effect on students' speaking abilities at SMPN 4 Banda Aceh."
