Abstract

"This study uses a quantitative method to explore the use of technology-based learning media. The purpose is to find out how effective the Awabe Learn Languages application is in improving reading skills among tenth-grade students at SMAN 1 Banda Aceh in the 2023/2024 academic year. Based on initial observations, students had difficulty understanding the main ideas in reading texts. This problem may be caused by the lack of interesting and interactive learning media.
The study involved 35 students as the sample, and used pre-tests and post-tests as the instruments. Descriptive texts were used as the teaching material, following the school’s curriculum. The aspects assessed included students’ ability to understand, analyze, connect ideas, and create original work. The data were analyzed using a t-test to compwere students’ scores before and after using the Awabe Learn Languages application. The results showed a t-score of 8.212, which is much higher than the t-table value of 2.034 at a 5% significance level with 34 degrees of freedom. This means the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, showing that there was a significant improvement in students' reading skills after using the application.
