Abstract
This research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of the Pre-Reading Plan (PREP) strategy in improving students’ reading comprehension. The aim of the study is to determine whether the use of the PREP strategy significantly enhances students' understanding of reading texts compared to conventional methods. This study employed a quasi-experimental method using a pre-test and post-test design involving two groups: an experimental group taught using the PREP strategy and a control group taught using conventional learning. The data were analyzed using n-gain scores and the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the experimental group achieved a higher average n-gain score (59%) in the "sufficient" category compared to the control group (43%) in the "less" category. Furthermore, the Mann-Whitney test showed a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference in reading comprehension between the two groups. These findings suggest that the implementation of the PREP strategy effectively improves students’ reading comprehension.
