Abstract
"Rafika (1911060033). The Use of The Duolingo Application in Improving Students’ Listening Skills at UPTD SPF SMP N 3 Simpang Kanan. Thesis of Department of English Education, Faculty of Educational Department. Advisor l Mulyani, M.Pd., M.TESOL.,Advisor ll Rosdiana, M.Pd.
This study aims to determine the use of the Doulingo Application in improving and motivating students to learn English, especially in listening. This research uses quantitative methods and data collection through pre-test and post-test. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique which is part of nonrandom sampling, totaling 24 students. Based on the data analysis, it is known that there is an increase in students' listening skills and the results of the hypothesis are these values, evidenced by a t-score value that is higher than the t-table value (0.967> 0.678). Students cite Duolingo's features, content, usability, context, control, connection, and mobility as reasons why students enjoy using it. This means that the hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded by researchers that the use of the Duolingo Application in learning English listening at SMP N 3 Simpang Kanan. Therefore, the use of the Duolingo Application in the learning process and in improving students' listening skills is highly recommended to be applied at all levels."
