Abstract

This study explores the strategies used by non-English major students to improve their TOEFL Prediction Test scores. The study aims to identify the strategies employed by these students to enhance their test performance. Using a qualitative approach and a multiple case study method, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with ten non-English major students from various universities in Banda Aceh. The findings revealed that most participants relied on informal learning resources, such as YouTube videos, online articles, and free TOEFL applications, and experienced difficulties in managing their time effectively, particularly in the reading and listening sections. In addition, many participants lacked structured study plans and continuous English practice, which affected the consistency of their TOEFL performance. The study concludes that insufficient preparation and poor time management contributed to inconsistent TOEFL results among non-English major students. Therefore, the findings highlight the importance of adopting more organized study strategies, practicing under timed conditions, and maintaining continuous English learning to improve TOEFL performance and support long-term English proficiency development.
