Abstract

This Thesis entitled The Effectiveness of Task-Based Language Teaching in Teaching Speaking at SMAN 2 Banda Aceh to improve communication skills in English language teaching. This research is motivated by use of Task-Based Language Teaching method, the method encourages the students of SMAN 2 Banda Aceh to further develop the students speaking skills, understanding of the language and how to communicate so that the individual has a change in attitude and skills.
The purpose of this study was to know if there any significant improvement in student’s speaking performance score through implementation of Task-Based Language Teaching in SMAN2 Banda Aceh. The method used in this study was a Quantitative Experimental study involving 62 students who investigated the affordability of using Task-Based Language Teaching to significantly improve students' speaking skills.
Statistical evidence reports significant differences in students' speaking scores. In the experimental class, the average was 63, and the average post-test score was 71.8, while in the control group, the average was 62.9, and the post-test average was 69.8, t-calculated was 1.58 and t-table (0.0069 <2.02) and the result were Ha is accepted, It is mean that related to the data analysis. Moreover to strengthen the data analysis, it can be seen the total of means score in post- test of students in experimental and control class, The result of this result that was a significant different between experimental and control class.
