Abstract

This research was conducted in the first grade of SMAN 12 Banda Aceh by the title the Contextual Teaching and Learning. There are some factor why the researcher chose this title. First, students make the error sentences, second lack vocabularis, third miss understanding of the text. This purpose is to teach students how to write a good sentence by using general structure. The researcher used the instrument such as pre-test, treatment and post-test. The average score of pre-test was 51,54 and the average of post-test was 130,925. It means that the average score of post-test is higher than the average score of pre-test. Those scores were used to determined t-score, which the result of t-score is 25,70. In addition, t-table at the significance level of 0,05 is 1,714. The result showed that t-score is higher than t-table. Ho rejected and Ha accepted if t-score more than t-table. Therefore, the null hyphothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hyphotesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that there was increasing of students’ writing ability by using Contextual Teaching and Learning Technique.
