Abstract

This study aims to analyze the self-regulated learning strategies applied by students in SMA Negeri 14 Iskandar Muda Banda Aceh in writing descriptive text. The subject of this study was the first-grade students of senior high school academic year 2023/2024 with seven participants. The instrument of this study were observation and interview. The type of research was qualitative descriptive method. The author believes that the students applied self-regulated learning strategies in writing descriptive text. In this study the researcher will find out what are self- regulated learning strategies applied by the first-grade students in SMA Negeri 14 Iskandar Muda Banda Aceh in writing descriptive text. From the research, the author found that students applied self-regulated learning strategies in order to help them in performing writing descriptive text. The result showed the self-regulated learning strategies are applied by the first-grade students in SMA Negeri 14 Iskandar Muda Banda Aceh in writing descriptive text are nine of ten strategies. The nine strategies of self-regulated learning strategies that are applied by students in writing descriptive text are rehearsing and memorizing, organizing and transforming (for optimizing personal functions), self con-sequencing strategy (for optimizing behavioral functions), keeping records and self-monitoring, environmental structuring, reviewing records, seeking information and seeking social assistance (for optimizing environmental functions). Based on the explanation above, students in SMA Negeri 14 Iskandar Muda Banda Aceh applied various self-regulated learning strategies in writing descriptive text.
